LD Debate Positions, Kritiks & Kritik Answers
(Click Below to Sort By Category)
The Forensics Files offers ready-to-use Lincoln-Douglas debate positions, Kritiks, K files, and Kritik answers for recurring philosophical and critical arguments. These research files help LD debaters prepare for arguments that extend beyond a single resolution, including capitalism, postmodernism, identity politics, role of the ballot, objectivism, and other critical or philosophical positions.
Use these files to expand your research library, prepare answers to arguments you may encounter across multiple topics, and develop positions that can remain useful throughout the competitive season.
Position Briefs
WHAT ARE DEBATE POSITIONS AND KRITIK FILES?
Some arguments appear repeatedly across Lincoln-Douglas topics rather than belonging to only one resolution. Position files give debaters prepared research, evidence, and strategic material for these recurring arguments. Kritiks, often called Ks, challenge assumptions, language, methods, ideologies, or frameworks underlying an opponent’s advocacy.
Preparing for these arguments in advance allows students to spend tournament preparation adapting established research instead of rebuilding responses every time a familiar position appears.
KRITIKS AND K ANSWERS
Kritik debates can involve questions about capitalism, identity, language, philosophy, power, methodology, and the role of the ballot. Effective preparation requires more than memorizing a generic response. Debaters need to understand what the Kritik claims, how its link and impact function, what the alternative asks the judge to do, and where the argument can be challenged.
Kritik-answer files can help students prepare framework arguments, link answers, impact responses, alternative challenges, permutations, and other strategic approaches before encountering the K in a round.
PHILOSOPHICAL AND FRAMEWORK POSITIONS
Lincoln-Douglas debate frequently involves competing ethical theories and interpretations of what judges should evaluate. Position research can help students prepare for recurring philosophical arguments, unusual frameworks, role-of-the-ballot claims, and other approaches that may appear across many resolutions.
Because these arguments are not tied exclusively to one topic, a strong Position library can remain useful throughout multiple tournaments and seasons.
BUILD A DEEPER LD RESEARCH LIBRARY
Topic briefs answer the immediate resolution. Position files serve a different purpose: building depth against arguments that return again and again.
Students and coaches can use The Forensics Files Position collection to supplement current-topic evidence with research on Kritiks, Kritik answers, philosophical positions, framework disputes, and recurring strategic arguments. The result is a broader research library that can be adapted when unfamiliar or unconventional positions appear in competition.
